Course Description

In this course we will discuss current research in strategic management and organization theory as well as different research methods. Applications will span the fields of strategic management, organizational change, organization design, and strategic leadership.<br> <br> Lernergebnisse<br> The goal of the course is to train students in <ul> <li>Understanding and assessing contemporary research in strategic management and organization theory,</li> <li>Discussing this research in front of an academic audience,</li> <li>Developing their own empirical research projects,</li> <li>Presenting their research to an academic audience, and</li> <li>Revising their research project based on feedback from academic peers.</li> </ul> Regelung zur Anwesenheit<br> Full attendance at all sessions is expected. We require an attendance of minimum 80% of all sessions (both in-person and online, if applicable) in order to successfully complete the course. If you are unable to attend a session due to unforeseeable circumstances, you need to inform your lecturer before the session takes place.<br><br> Lehr-/Lerndesign<ul> <li>Discussion of existing literature related to own projects.</li> <li>Presentation of own PhD projects.</li> <li>Revision of projects based on feedback.</li> <li>Open discussion of projects presented by internal and external speakers.</li> </ul> <br> Leistungen für eine Beurteilung<br> The final course grade is based upon the evaluation of the following assessment assignments: <ul> <li>Presentation of own research project (50%)</li> <li>Empirical presentation (30%)</li> <li>Oral participation (20%)</li> </ul> <br> Please note that students must participate in all three grading components in order to pass the course.<br> We expect all students to actively participate in the in-class discussions.
